TT DeepDark by sr21 TT DeepDark by sr21
"TT DeepDark" (inspired from FT DeepDark for Firefox) is a theme that has been created to transform the look of Thunderbird for Windows users. It has been specially designed for Seven, but rendering is relatively accurate on XP and Linux (I can t test it on MAC, but for those who would like to try it anyway on that platform, you can force download and install it). As the Bloomind FT themes for Firefox, It contains no added functionalities, it's simply a full GUI customization.

For those who would love to apply DeepDark to Thunderbird you can download it > here <

I'm so in love with this theme it's ridiculous! My eyes are quite light sensitive and I prefer dark backgrounds to the stock white that seems to dominate UIs everywhere. There's only one small tweak that would make it 110% rather than 100% perfect: if the blue bits were green. Is there any chance of a green version? Or is this something I could simply do myself? I'm not afraid to code, but I've never messed around with TT theme code before, so I wouldn't know where to start.

This is not set by the theme. I even don't know if I can change it and I even didn't try to do it, because it s better for that special area that users chose the color which fits them at best through the Thunderbird default settings panel. Simply go in "tools" then you click on "options", there you can set yourself the reading pane background and font color (you can also do the same for the message compositor window).

Unluckily Google Chrome doesn t offer the same customization possibilities as Mozilla's softwares. I tried to make 2 themes for Chrome (CT Deepdark and also CT Sobrio) but it s really frustrating when you see how much it s limited... :(

Hey man, that is one slick theme!
I love it.

I'm sure one of the first negative things that you'll hear is that Lightning should be themed.

Of course, people have no idea what it takes to create a theme.

No way!
:wow:

I'm anxious to check it out.
You're pretty amazing managing/maintaining all of your Firefox themes, let alone taking on a whole new world. :D

I just hope that you don't get burned out.
The rapid release cycle could be quite taxing.

Congrats on unseating the former most downloaded theme, NASA Night Launch.
It has more active users, but it has had a head start (few years).

I'm sure that your themes will become the most used also.

I've enjoyed watching your work progress.

Hi there :)

Thank you very much for your message and support :) I m really glad that you are also enjoying to use DeepDark version for TB :) I ve started to use TB not so long ago,I like it and I wanted it could match with my FF theme (I m using DD 2), so I thought "why not?"... ;) But first I was waiting for the 5th version to be released before starting to work on it.

And thank you very much for your nice words, understanding and to constantly follow my works and progression. I ve learned quite a lot those last months. It was my first software skinning experiences with those themes for FF and TB and I must confess that I m really happy to have managed to do something which is working correctly and looking almost exactly as I want :) I ve still a lot to learn, but little by little I ll do it :)
Concerning the rapid release cycle, luckily for the moment there are not so much changes concerning the design. My FF themes works all till the FF8 version. For Thunderbird, I don t know for the moment if I ll need to change a lot with the release of new versions. But I don t think there will be radical changes.

Hope in future, I ll manage to keep on having little bit time to upates my works and to share the pleasure I have in creating theme :)
